RECOVERY ANNOUNCEMENT OF MITSUBISHI LANCER MODEL FOR REPLACEMENT OF WINDOW GLASS AND AUTO BELT TREATMENT FOR AFFECTED VEHICLES

From June 15, 2020 to June 14, 2022, Mitsubishi Motor Vietnam Co., Ltd (MMV) will recall the Mitsubishi Lancer XE to replace the sunroof glass and automatic belt tensioner for vehicles. affected, details are as follows:

Note: All Mitsubishi Lancer vehicles assembled after February 4, 2011 have been fitted with an improved automatic belt tensioner

On affected vehicles, the following may occur:

• During use, there is a possibility that the sunroof glass will be detached from the outer frame due to vibration and/or wind pressure. This phenomenon occurs because the plastic material used is not suitable for weather conditions, so under the influence of temperature and humidity, the adhesion between the outer frame and the sunroof glass is reduced.
• In the process of using the car, the engine warning light may come on on the dashboard, lose power steering, the battery will run out of power, the engine may overheat. The cause is determined to be the bolt design of the automatic tensioner is not suitable, the sliding resistance will increase due to aging over time of use. This can cause cracks in the auto tensioner bolt surface when the engine is used under repetitive and high load conditions. In the worst case, the bolt face will break and the drive belt (drive of the water pump, generator, power steering pump and air conditioner) will fall off.

Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam will conduct a campaign to replace the sunroof glass and replace the MMV automatic belt tensioner completely FREE of charge (including spare parts and labor) at all MMV Authorized Distributors Nationwide.

The time required for the replacement is as follows:

– Sunroof for Lancer: 0.3 hours (18 minutes)

– Lancer automatic belt tensioner: 0.6 hours (36 minutes)
