[Recall] Checking & replacing rear parking brake for Mitsubishi Outlander Sport & Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

From 24th Jun 2019, as requested by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam Co., Ltd. (MMV) will carry out the recall campaign at MMV’s authorized dealers nationwide, with detailed information as below.

Name of Recall Campaign: Recall campaign for Mitsubishi Outlander Sport & Outlander PHEV Vehicles inspect and replace rear parking brake.

Starting date of recall campaign: From 24th Jun 2019

Estimated completion date of recall campaign: To 23th Jun 2021

Applied vehicles: 848 unit of Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and 03 unit of Outlander PHEV imported in 2014 – 2015, briefly of the vehicle ID number as following: http://bit.ly/trieuhoiOutlanderSport

Necessary time for inspect and replace: ~ 2 hours

Please contact your nearest Mitsubishi dealer for checking detail information if your Outlander Sport is applied the recall.

Warning to customer:

Due to improper sealing of parking brake shaft boots, water might enter and rust the shaft. As a result of continous use, the rust will erode into the internal caliper and reduce the parking brake force. In the worst case scenario, parked vehicle will arbitrarily move

Some rear brake calipers have shipped without passing the proper specification inspection. Auto adjustment of gap between brake disc and brake pad might not work properly. As a result, as brake pad wear, caliper could not adjust the gap and brake force will be insufficient to hold the vehicle. In the worst case scenario, parked vehicle will arbitrarily move.

Customer is strongly requested to bring the involved vehicles to MMV’s authorized dealers to have their rear parking brake replaced in accordance with the above mentioned recall campaigns to make sure the vehicles are in good condition for usage.
